About Us

St. Peter's is located 90 miles west of Fort Worth, Texas on Possum Kingdom Lake. Because of our resort environment we have a very diverse congregation of Christians from many denominations who come together each Sunday as "One Family in Christ" to worship God in this beautiful place. The worship is a traditional service according to Rite I of the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer that includes Bible readings, a sermon, hymn singing and Holy Communion every Sunday. Sunday worship is followed by food and fellowship in the parish hall.

History

St. Peter's by the Lake was originally established as a mission church by the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas in 1962. It is now part of the Diocese of Fort Worth, which was formed from the western part of the Diocese of Dallas in 1982. The current building was orginally built in Graham in 1907 and was the home of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, Graham until they built a larger building in 1962. The old building was moved to Possum Kingdom Lake in 1963. The building is now more than 100 years old and is a State of Texas registered landmark.
